WORLD FESTIVAL OF UNDERWATER PICTURES
« Archipelaego » a competition for the future
Forewords
The Antibes World Festival of underwater images takes a new direction as well
as opening, in the beginning of this new millenium, a new era under the mark
of water. Taking deep experience into its past to look for a new future, the
Festival wishes to open the door to imagination and creation.
This new competition will serve once more the philosophy of the Festival being a nursery for new talents. It will also be based on the idea that man must be put back together with its natural environment, and especially with the underwater world. Utopia will be the key word for this competition where dreams and passion must drive the young generation to model its destiny.
Drawing the outlines of a future made of vision and boldness,
sharing the inheritance of the past that still survives within the links between
man and the ocean. Building the basis for tomorrow integrating the knowledge
of the past. Retrieving the balance of former people of the ocean and men who
dedicated their life to the sea.
Here are some of the tasks for this competition.
For we only have brushed this maritime world to whom we owe everything and we are just at the gate of its endless space.
This competition has therefore another goal : to make the young generation aware of this new frontier that is standing before mankind. In the idea of this whole new space to conquer, we need every talent to create a better integration for man to respectfully be part of the sea life. We have to think as people from the sea with new kind of culture, way of life and traditions.
We must, at last, be worthy of Jules Verne’s heritage as we must bless the men who have, in his wake, created a future with a spirit of an unknown ocean. This true spring of passion and hopes has finally enabled us to expand our knowledge over the underwater environment.
Standing before those men such as Le Prieur, Tailliez, Cousteau, Picard or Walsh, all heirs of Nemo, we invite you to the most unbelievable adventure.
Be the visionary makers of the future offering freedom to your imagination and giving birth to tomorrow thanks to your genius.
